The dolls are extraordinary works of art, each piece of clothing finished with tiny details worked in minute stitches. Their checked handkerchief headwraps, muslin shifts and chintz skirts are all made from Indian fabrics.

Although one of the original headwraps has been lost, analysis of the remaining two show they were cut from the same full-sized handkerchief. The original handkerchief was evidently cared for, as evidenced by a tiny darning repair hidden under a fold.
